Following Tom and working on my game with his trainings....was excited to have about 4 of my best, most rewarding and effortless rounds in a long time.........then BOOM...........the train took a dirt road. Terrible round.......never felt comfortable, in a groove or fluid. This has been a challenge my whole golfing life. Happens round to round, happens after 15 good holes, happens on two different 9's. If I am able to hit good shots, enjoy the game, score well etc............and then totally go brain dead...........it proves that my mental game is mostly at fault. Help!

One problem that can occur after a good round or practice session is when we say to ourselves, "Now I've got this." That's an open invitation to our old swing demons, and they never miss an opportunity to haunt. We get a little too relaxed, a little too loose. We let our guard down. One swing element starts to break down, and then the chain reaction begins.
In order to salvage a round when you sense that you are beginning to leak some oil, I strongly suggest that you keep a reliable “default swing” in your back pocket that you can dial up on-demand. This will keep you in play over the next few holes while you figure out the issue, or even carry you to the end of the round if you prefer to sort it out later on the practice range. Many members use the swing provided by Drill 2.8, which is actually the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators. In fact, one member played five consecutive rounds using just 2.8 and he shot in the 70’s each time!
Also, couple of excellent books to help get your head in the right place (and keep it there) are "Fearless Golf: Conquering the Mental Game" by Dr. Gio Valiante and "Play Your Best Golf Now" by Lynn Marriott & Pia Nilsson.
