Hi guys, i feel as if my swing doesnt look “that” bad. i am really struggling though to get any kind of decent contact on the ball. I feel it might only be a few minor tweaks needed?? I also think I flip my hands at impact which doesn’t help.
thanks
danny
Hi.
My thoughts:
I) your take-away starts wrong II) arms not connected III) no balance and rhythm for top to start downswing correct IV) downswing starts wrong with arms first I) whiggle hip short left to release tension. with this momentum now push the club from left foot, left knee and left body towards right - no pull right arm only push left II) glue elbows together and keep them connected till 3/4 or full swing III+IV) rhythm normal swing is 3:1. 1+2ooo up, 3 down, 4 through.
downswing starts at end of 2 with weight left foot including freeing left hip then body turn and connected arms follow. I-IV) help you to keep balance for the whole swing.
The only things you can do always 100% correct are posture and rhythm. In between u can analyse failures and easily correct them
...in addition. from this camera angle looks like your hip rotation is starting too early. from the top of your backswing slide the hips forward without rotating them. This is also why your trail knee kicks out and not towards the target.
Hey, Danny. I would pay attention to your trail knee. To me it's kicking out way too early in the swing. The trail foot should roll in and not fully turn over in the swing. At the point of contact your trail foot is on it's toes. It should be rolling in on the inside of the foot and then maybe turn partially over in the follow through.
Hi Danny,
I personally refrain from offering swing video analyses here as it conflicts with my V1 service. However, many of the "regulars" here have a solid knowledge of the swing and can offer valuable insight from their respective experiences. The responses you've received so far provide a good indication of this.
By the way, as Cal references, it would be helpful to also include a face-on view of your swing.
Keep up the great work!
Tom
You're early extending. Check out the tailbone-to-target video on Tom's website.
Hey Danny. Your swing looks really good, especially your position at the top of your backswing. The only comment I can make is maybe you are loading up on your right side, but hard to tell with the down the line shot. Remember on Tom’s teaching points, the weight does not shift or load up on your trail (right) side. The left knee really points down towards the ground, it doesn’t collapse over to the right side letting all your weight shift. Maybe that is causing any issues you have. Really though, you have a nice swing. Wish I could get my hand back behind like you do. Good luck. on flipping hands work on that “greates drill” Tom has given use. It really helps keeping the hands forward and in proper position at impact. I try doing that drill 3 or 4 times a week. I bought a net and artificial turf just for that, I feel it is that important. Good luck,
Cal
