@Paul Saulnier - For future reference, when practicing. Put down a couple alignment sticks or clubs. This will help you with alignment and also help us know what your target direction is. From what I can see, your feet, hips, and shoulders are all pointing in different directions.
I see a lot of good things in your backswing. You are over the top on the way down and you have some early extension (your hips move toward the ball).
As far as corrections. I would check alignment. This is one of those where you just have to do it over and over until it's ingrained.
A good drill for early extension, contact in general, and honestly to get the feel of your torso through impact is to set up to the ball, then without changing anything else, drop your trail foot (your left foot) back about a foot, and then hit the ball. The best part is you can take full swings like this. Once you've done this enough times you're making good contact, then set up normally and hit the ball. You might even see that slice turn into a draw.
@Nocona Colt Abernathy should I do the drill with my weight forward ? and do u keep your driver face slightly open like saguto reccomends for the irons?
@Paul Saulnier Yes. You always want the weight forward. I would set up with the face as you normally do, so yes. This drill really helps with teaching your body to sequence of the downswing.
Thanks for posting the first swing video to our Video Analysis Room, @Paul Saulnier!!
Excellent analysis, @Nocona Colt Abernathy, and a helpful drill as well!
