A proper downswing path tangentially intersects the target line from the inside and then exits the target line back to the inside as the club travels around the body on a tilted circle. As such the face angle relative to the target line - which determines the ball's starting direction (right, left, or straight relative to the target line), whereas the face angle relative to the path determines direction and degree of curvature.
Hi Rick,
A proper downswing path tangentially intersects the target line from the inside and then exits the target line back to the inside as the club travels around the body on a tilted circle. As such the face angle relative to the target line - which determines the ball's starting direction (right, left, or straight relative to the target line), whereas the face angle relative to the path determines direction and degree of curvature.
This is all shown clearly in the course on the Shot Shaping Grid.
