Progress continues folks with really good consistency but I now need to address my lack of wrist hinge and some confusion for me that I have when trying to address this. While I'm striking the ball well, I really think I'm losing power by relying purely on my turn for power through the ball, I have very little to no wrist hinge therefore don't really have a release as such, I just turn through it with more or less "dead" hands (fast!) I think I should be able to unlock some extra oomph by hinging my wrists and almost throwing the clubhead at the ball. Confusion is that when I stand at address, with a neutral grip, what would make sense to me would be a bowing/extending of my left wrist, going through to the opposite of that in follow through. It makes the club face move direct right to left through impact which to me would be logical as this is the direction you want to add some power to i.e. into the ball. But tutorials etc and everything I see, to me sounds like a thumbs upward movement, which to me seems like it lift the club off plane massively. I can lift my club up in front of me and drop it back down by doing this, but how does that help strike the ball with more force as it is an up/down movement not a lateral movement through the ball? Or is it where in the swing the hinging takes place that determines what this wrist movement should ideally be? Confused here, thanks for any insight. I'm probably iver thinking this but want to understand the mechanics aspect of it.

So, I found that it was my grip which was really limiting my wrists ability to hinge, i thought all these years my grip was fine but clearly wasn't. My grip was way up in my palm, not in my fingers. Once i changed my grip out my palm into my fingers the wrists were really freed up, what a massive difference, instantly more power and distance. The bowing at the top really does promote a draw but for me was too easy to overdo into a terrible hook, maybe something to work at. The prescribed hinging does the job with no modification needed. Lessons learned are - 1) stick with the program and 2) don't skip golf 1.1 because you think you know it :-)
