As title says, I seem to be narrowing down one of the core problems of hitting it fat and slicing is my weight still moving off the ball on the backswing and not getting back. (The other is not enough shoulder down vs back movement). I am sure they are related.
Weight on rear side is probably my biggest issue my whole golf career. Not getting enough lateral hip movement.
Obviously the S&T method says to start with it forward and NOT move the weight off the front at all and in fact go more forward as the swing progresses.
I was at the range yesterday and consistently was hitting it fat, pushing it, and slicing.
I also had the DIVOT BOARD show up in the mail that I had ordered. Interesting tool.
It confirmed the point of contact was hitting behind the ball consistently.
When I use a shorter club (PW- 8 iron) and intentionally setup like I am going to do a low punch shot with weight really forward I actually make pretty good contact.
When I go back to "regular" swing and setup (even with trying a similar mindset of weight stays forward) I am very inconsistent with KEEPING the front side anchored and planted.
In looking in mirror - it is abut 4-6 inch difference in lateral hip position at contact when I keep and get weight forward. Of course when it is forward I have a much better chance of ball first contact.
The DIVOT BOARD confirms this and hitting a bunch of 3/4 swing PW's last night about 70-100 yards confirmed that, also.
So question is how to keep it anchored???
Any help appreciated.
@Mojoman can you post a video of your swing? You say you are moving off the ball, but would like to see the move to provide some assistance.
