I see folks struggle with the backswing and then think of Tom's video (below) where he demos acting like an airplane (arms straight out) and simply banking the plane to the left to land on a runway. So simple it's insane. That gets the lead shoulder down, and that also puts the club on a good plane to the top. Some may "bank more" to create a more vertical swing, some may bank a little less, but anybody can do this and immediately see the difference vs. flat shoulder backswings.
I was watching Xander hitting on YT, and by gosh, his swing looks identical to Tom's...or.....Xander might say Tom's swing looks like his...LOL. Xander's swing is super simple. While there are many examples in the video, go to the 1:42 mark. You could put Tom's head on Xander's body. The one thing I do notice is Xander slightly increases his spine angle on the downswing, not a lot, but the point is he's doing the opposite of flattening. He's actually banking harder left.

Appreciate the comment regarding Xander's validation of the banking airplane, but at the 1:42 mark of the linked video there is a cart girl in a cat suit. Not that I'm complaining about the imagery or anything, but it definitely wasn't Xander....... 😆
