I finished the Chipping and Pitching Sections and I am practicing the techniques given. For Pitching and for Tom’s input, placing the club toward the right leg at maybe a 55 Degreee angle and holding it there, and swinging with straight arms, rotating the body, is supposed to allow the ball flight to go high. It was demonstrated by Tom but really seems awkward to perform and I have tried to do it without success. The last video of Pitching and Chipping shows this whole swing set-up. For me, placing the ball forward, open the face of the club some and accelerating through the ball causes quite an upward trajectory and distance. But there does have to be definite acceleration and forward weight shift or it doesn’t work out very well. Again, regarding leaning the club back (which I have never seen before with Lessons or with other players) toward the right leg and holding it there, is the (one) thing which seems too difficult to perform, but everything else in approach set-up and swing mechanics seems ”spot on.”

@Patrick Anlauf - I believe you are referring to the Old Version of chipping simplified, and in the video you are referencing with the hands back I do say that this is a more advanced move. To simplify things I'd prefer that you work through the Chipping Revamped course as you may find more consistency there. Beyond that, chipping is a highly individual thing. We take the basics that help us to achieve clean contact - i.e.: the content that is provided in the course - and then mold and tweak it through practice and experimentation with various clubs in order to form our unique technique.
