Hey all!
Been loving the Saguto swing so far and have gone down from a 100 to about 93 as average score. Lately the biggest issue is i’m closing the face too much at impact. My in to out is around 3-5 degrees but my face angle is around 10-15! So way over drawing slicing. Any drills/tips to help get me back on track? This is mostly with driver and shrinks a bit as the clubs get shorter naturally.
@katanas confused about part of your post. You say you are over drawing or over slicing with an in-to-out path and a closed club face: That doesn’t compute.
Can you post a video of your swing?
You control clubface through the strength of your grip Or through your release pattern. Once I see your swing, should be easy to diagnose.
btw - when you provide swing path and clubface data, what were you using to capture that info?
One more thing. Are you rolling your wrist? At one time I would keep my wrist flat but on the down swing I rolled. Club closed.
Out of the blue I had the same problem. At 1st I thought that I was not keeping a flat wrist at the top. When that didn't cure it all I adjusted my grip and everything was cured. If you're on a driving range play around with both so you can see what happens.
Hi @Katanas n' KFC - I would absolutely begin with @nkorfhage's suggestion regarding your grip prior to getting into any type of swing intervention. You may be interested in this YT episode in which I speak of the tendencies associated with an overly strong grip. Beyond that, the Flying Wedge Drill may help you gain control of your face angle at impact, especially if there is some flipping or rolling of the hands occurring through the zone.
I'm very glad to learn of your progress. Keep up the great work!!
Make sure your grip is "neutral" with both Vs pointing at your trail shoulder. I've noticed that players with a "strong" grip tend to have the trail hand V pointing away from their trail shoulder and then end up closing the clubface at impact.
