Since i have an issue keeping my head height in the downswing(because i am pushing down on the ground with my lead leg), should i FEEL more of a lateral movement towards the target instead of feeling that push downward for the power feel...thats most likely causing me to lose power?

Hey Jason, the "pushing off" should naturally occur if the weight is forward. So there's no need to exaggerate this move. If anything your head could drop MORE if you try to load the front side and push off of it aggressively. Speed for you is coming from "lead arm off chest + head in place"
