I am working very hard to fix my steep but not really over the top back swing. I am doing many different drills to correct this and I am seeing progress. When I have corrected the steep and have the proper path into the ball what improvements might I expect to see. On average, will my distance improve? Approximately how much. I know it will depend on other factors but what improvement is normal for most people that correct this swing flaw? Thanks Frank

Hi Frank - It's really impossible to say how much your distance will improve from either a yardage or percentage basis, but consider that since you will be transferring your current semi-downward glancing blow energy to the force of a direct, compressed strike while simultaneously taking full advantage of the tremendous power source known as angular momentum, it will be noticeable and you will be surprised at how far the ball goes with seemingly minimal effort exerted.
From an anecdotal perspective, most of my students and members pick up anywhere from 1-3 clubs in length when they go from being steep to approaching the ball on the proper in-to-out path. I personally improved my distance by at least 2 clubs with my irons and approximately 25-30 yards on my drives when I corrected my path and gained enough confidence in my swing to simply trust it and let it happen.
