Former Saguto member from last year who has just rejoined this year.
Had some progress last year. This summer has been a developing nightmare.
The more I practice the worse I get.
The ONLY time I really hit the ball pure without slicing, or hitting ii fat is when I pull my back foot way back in the anti slice drill.
Of course this forces you to come from inside to out rather than outside in.
Otherwise I have outside in and weight shift issues I cannot seem to ever correct.
How does one take THAT drill and translate to the regular swing????
I am pretty much stuck where I was last year only much worse at at times.
Had longer range session today. What I will say is it is crazy how not getting enough shoulder down tilt completely ruins a shot. Like the difference between probably only going down 25 degrees vs the desired 36 degrees and it goes to hell.
OK, seem to have made some progress trying two drills today. The aforementioned 90% Weight Forward + Arms Straight drill https://saguto.golf/courses/1175315/lectures/31131342
and this one about shoulder down/covering the ball Do This CRAZY Feel to Hit PERFECT Golf Shots (It FEELS SO WEIRD But It Works!)
Feels weird. Feels like I am too close to the ball which is likely a result of not ever having really been over the ball enough, and club not reaching the ground.
Hit about 35 balls. A variety of half swings, punch shots, and a few full swings with a Pitching wedge. Only two bad slices where i knew before I hit it my shoulder was not down enough, a few slightly fat where my weight setup was not enough on front side and staying there, but many good strikes. Hit a couple full swing wedges when I was feeling brave over 120 yards without really going after it that hard.
The other weird feeling was I kept my trail arm wedge (lag) longer as a byproduct. Not sure why. Possibly I was early extending to try and reach the ball as I was not tilting enough.
It is weird to feel this much tilting over the ball, but the contact was better for sure.
I’m was just getting ready to post my experience with the same issue. Here is what worked for me. Go to the Ball Flight Fixes section. Then go to Slices (and Pulls). Watch all of the videos. After I watched the videos I went to the range and went thru the setup, takeaway, top of backswing and downswing drills. After doing that I was still pushing / fading / slight slicing my irons and driver. I went back and rewatched the videos and realized I didn’t do any of the weight shift drills. So I went back to the range and just did the weight shift drills. It worked! I wasn’t shifting my weight correctly. Of the three videos the Fixing Your Slicing Downswing - Keep the Weight Moving Forward - Fixes the Flip and Fall Back drill worked the best. Both my irons and driver straighten out. Good luck!
