Hi Tom,
Thanks for all your work here and I am really enjoying learning from you. One of my favorite videos on your YouTube channel is 'The BEST SECRET to Incredible Ball Striking (Move Your Wrists LIKE THIS)'. In fact, it was tipping point for me to join your teaching school. I noticed in the Downswing series this is not covered much or maybe I missed it. My question, in terms of sequence, when do you unhinge? When does it start...before impact/after? In the downswing series, I noticed you still have that bend in your wrist after impact. Can you elaborate a little?
Thanks,
David
Welcome to this great forum community, @ewaver - we're glad to have you onboard!!
The Flying Wedge Drill may help to answer your question. We are not trying to contrive or precisely time some type of rolling or flipping "release" action through the zone in this swing system. That is a misguided piece of swing advice that has led countless amateur golfers into the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration.
My best suggestion is to own the flying wedge. That will really crisp up your ball striking, and you'll find that as you learn to trust it and add speed your wrists will begin unhinge on their own and at the appropriate time. Because the majority of golfers are too handsy through the zone, I chose to save content specific to the unhinging of the wrists for a more advanced course designed to be viewed after after the basic swing (and the flying wedge) has been mastered. You'll find this instruction "hiding" in the Power + Distance section.
