How to avoid flipping
Tom,
You advised keeping the hands in front of the club to avoid flipping. I find that it works great in achieving a proper finish indicating no flipping happened. I want to put forth the idea that it is very much related to hinging at the top of the back swing. I tell myself to hinge and stay hinged throughout. What do you think?
Thanks, AJ
i like to feel like im pointing my lead hand knuckles to the ground. That has helped me a lot.
Hi AJ,
Since we're talking "feels' here, I see no problem with how you are going about it as long as it leads you to a good impact position and produces desirable shot shape and distance. (It actually sounds to me like you're feeling the Mickelson "hinge and hold" chipping technique in the full swing, and that's certainly a fine way to rid oneself of the chronic flips.)
In reality, unhinging will occur as I spoke about in a recent YT channel episode, but that is vastly different from the flipping, rolling, handsy, timed "release" taught in "conventional" instruction that has been the ruin of many a golf swing. So just retain that "flying wedge" through the zone and you'll enjoy consistently crispy compressed impact!
Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!
Tom
