I’ve been working on keeping my right arm bent and getting that 90 degree angle between my lower arm and shaft coming into last parallel. Saw some good results at home (see first video) after watching Tom’s YouTube video on getting the right elbow in front of your chest:
I tried to take it to the course yesterday but failed miserably (see second video):
Need to keep drilling and getting that feel. Old habits die hard.
This is all part of the process, @James Greer. We begin to nail something down in our practice sessions. We then take it out to the course, monitor the results (preferably without too much frustration), and then take it back to the practice tee to reinforce what worked and address the deficiencies with the appropriate lessons and drills. Excellent job!!
I went back to Tom’s overall swing drill rehearsing address, 3/4 backswing, impact, and follow through keeping the hands and club in the same relationship and it produced immediately better impact results.
I just realized I might not have been tilting enough with my shoulders on the downswing (my right shoulder not tilting down but rather flattening). I would imagine this would help keep the right arm tight to the body.
