Can’t seem to generate very much club head speed wit the driver, have worked on weight forward as well as trail arm tucked tight and long back swing, but can only get 87-9 according to vc200
@westernpainting1 & @danny - Remember - this is a marathon and not a sprint! You really haven't done much yet with regard to tapping the various power accumulator add-ons. These happen after we've got the swing working properly and are achieving consistently crispy impact and desirable ball flight. All in due time.....
you're getting good contact! 1.44 smash! I'll also say this, I don't know a lot of people that can carry their drives 200 yards with 230 overall! I was only able to break that recently myself.
I can say this much, from my experience using the mevo swing tracker, I've been swinging my 4 iron anywhere from 82 to 95 MPH. What I've notices is the smash factor is higher at the mid to upper 80s than it is in the mid to low 90s. I have to consciously "try" to get into the 90s and the smash factor drops into the 1.25 to 1.3 area. With just no thought about clubhead speed and just trying to swing well, the club head speed drops but I se smash factors in the 1.4s! I'd recommend you stop worrying about club head speed and focus on carry, ball speed and smash factor. At least, thats what I'll be more concerned with from now on. The app for the mevo will audibly report one stat from each swing. I was focused on ball speed for a while, then I went to carry, lately, like you I was focusing on club head speed. I think now I'm going to set that audible report to Smash factor! That is just the ratio between the club head speed and the ball speed. That is a better way to track contact, I think...
@westernpainting1 - What type of ball flight are you getting with the driver (starting direction and curvature), and how does it compare to your other clubs with regard to quality of impact, swing speed, and shot shape?
Also - I'm curious as to what you mean by "long back swing"? Just want to make sure you're not going back beyond your body's natural stopping point as this can cause various power sources to break down (in addition to adversely affecting path and ball flight).
No worries - we'll get this figured out. Worse case scenario you can always arrange for a V1 Swing Video Analysis so I can put my eyes on it, diagnose the specific issue, and offer an appropriate solution.
Hi Tom, thanks for responding!. the ball flight is most straight, often a small draw. This is very encouraging as I used to have a strong slice!!. You taught me how to cure that and I have, thanks. My irons and utility clubs are working very well. Are also drawing, as well as going about average distance for a senior golfer (59). 7 iron swing speed average 66 mph, ball speed 88, 1.31 smash factor, 138 average 166 max. Have been following your instruction (as best I can) for about 6 months
long backswing: that is a one peace take away, with a full shoulder turn, while keeping weight on the front leg
