So, play really well today on my local league course. 2 bogies, 1 birdie for +1 for 9 holes. Reflecting on my outing I came to the conclusion that I need help to get off the tee. 200-210y drives aren't going to cut it on a bit longer course. @Tom Saguto , if you had to rebuild someone's driver swing where would you start :) I'm ready to dismantle it. Going straight today but absolutely no distance.

@billmo7419 - One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will refer students back to Chapter 2 of the Golf Swing Simplified course when they experience a hiccup or perceived setback. That chapter reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with Drill 2.8, or what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time".
Master that drill and you'll be well on your way to swing ownership, and you can even use its partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite nicely with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) In fact, I'm considering renaming the drill "The Burkholder Swing Molder" after fellow member @Ronald Burkholder, who shot five consecutive rounds in the 70's using just the 2.8 swing...😂
What is the 2.8 drill?
@danny and will definitely take 230-240 consistently. Nice goin'
Thanks @danny need to do the 2.8 with driver and also, awesome advise fellas...i've tried all kinds of tweaks. going to get a video together for Tom and concentrate on a few things you all mentioned. I have big outing end of the month with the boys and don't want to hear any of their crap!!! (like years before)
For me, it's the 2.8 drill that has me seeing 230 to 240 yards with an occasional 250. The minute I try to swing with the wrath of God, HUGE slices onto the next fairway! Really long but, man it's still painful to watch! Also, the reality is that my finish is with way too much weight on the trail side. So, I'm not really doing the 2.8 drill that well.
I, also, still swing over the top. It's really proving to be very difficult to get rid of this. It is a swing feel I have not been able to develop yet. So, I'm feeling my advice should be taken from the perspective that, it comes from someone with a slowly developing swing...
@Gerry_Lager Super kind. It’s all thanks to Tom and Stack & Tilt. You’ll definitely have it.
I think @Tom Saguto has figured out what I would say but for me on the driver it’s been a couple really easy fixes that got me hitting straight and FAR. Tailbone to target on backswing and rotating with the trail arm to create that club lag and swing with the wrath of God. I feel like tailbone to target really frees me up to just rotate and crush.
@Gerry_Lager - A big part of this comes from simply trusting your swing and decluttering the mind of mechanical thoughts. This enables you to "give up control to gain control", and doing so also translates into more speed.
Have you checked out the Power + Distance course? You may learn a thing or two about the various power accumulators there.
Many folks in the school are now hitting the driver significantly longer than they ever have. @danny immediately comes to mind, but there are several others who have posted about their gains as well. And I know that @Ian "Twiggy" Jones has commented that he's working on generating more length, so he may have something to add. And @Joshua Flynn is bombing it as he shared in this recent video post.
Before dismantling a swing that is performing well from an accuracy standpoint, it may behoove you to post some video in the Video Analysis Room and tag some of the "regulars" to get their thoughts. Also, you can arrange for a V1 Swing Video Analysis if you'd like me to put my eyes on your driver swing and identify opportunities for more speed.
