Hi Tom, I think that you mentioned at some point that you will be putting together a class on fairway woods. In the meantime, just wondering if the set up for a 3 wood is more like the driver or a long iron/hybrid or somewhere in between. I apologize if this question is answered in one of your classes. If it is, please point me in the right direction. Thanks!!

I truly appreciate your kind words, @john.pyle19, and I'm very glad to learn of the positive impact this school has had on your swing and your enjoyment of the game!!
Quite frankly, it took me quite a bit of time to figure out how to best present the Grid in my trademark simplified manner, because the way it was taught to me as an instructor was anything but. As such I'm quite happy to know that it is playing well for you. And yes - once you've got the swing working properly, the grid certainly adds a new and fun dimension to your game!!
Thanks again, and keep up the great work!!
Tom
This is very helpful! Also, I just started working with the grid and already find it extremely helpful. Shot shaping is key on my regular course as there are several holes/shots that are set up for/require a cut or draw. Can't thank you enough for all of your dedication in putting such a comprehensive program together. It has helped me completely change my game and outlook on golf! Thanks again!!
Hi @john.pyle19 - I really need to update the title of the Hybrids & Long Irons course to include fairways woods. As the clubs get longer you just add a touch more additional forward weight and you may also nudge the ball position slightly forward as well if desired. Beyond that it's still the same swing, and as with all clubs our plane will be naturally dictated by the length of the shaft and lie angle - a bit steeper for the shorter clubs, more around the body as we move up to the fairway woods and driver (this is not a conscious manipulation - it should happen automatically as the hand/club paths and degree of shoulder tilt adjust to the distance we stand from the ball).
I hope this helps!
Tom
