Today I recorded my swing with my driver. My backswing seems to be ok, other than my arms are a little to high.
But on my downswing, I cannot stop myself from basically standing straight up at impact. I stay down on the start of my downswing, but the closer I get to impact, the straighter up I am getting. I am pretty much straight up and down at impact. I lost major distance since this started.
Any advice or drills I could be doing?
Lots to learn! Thank you for the help!
@jspyke52 - Here's another thread that just popped up today that's got some great back and forth going on involving @danny, @Cody McDowell, @dvine0621 , and @Buford T Ogletree. I noticed in reading through it that there was some mention of standing up on the downswing. As such, I thought you might be interested in checking it out in addition to what I mentioned in my previous reply.

@jspyke52 - First of all, we need to get that longer driver shaft working more around your body and definitely not have any independent lifting going on that takes your hands above the shoulder line at the top.
As for standing up, this typically occurs due to insufficient - or even a complete absence of - lateral targetward sliding of the hips from the start of the downswing through impact. If the hips don't clear laterally then we run out of room and must come out of our orientation or else the club will crash into the ground.
Although the title of this recent post is a little different, it pertains to a similar issue and my reply is likely appropriate for you. Also, please refer to the Downswing chapter of Fixing Common Swing Problems and have a look at the lessons and drills specific to "Problem #1". Finally, I'm attaching a couple of photos from the Stack and Tilt book showing Charlie Wi's and Aaron Baddeley's hip slide "feels" that may assist you.
I hope this helps!
