I've been having lots of crispy shots lately, but every once in a while, out of the blue, I will cold top a driver. Happened to me today, was playing great, then out of nowhere, I topped three in a row.
What could cause this? I'm guessing too much slide to the left on the downswing? I have a tendency to do that.
If anyone is wondering about V1 lessons, it is totally worth it. Some bad habits were creeping back into my swing, but @Tom Saguto gave me a detailed video breakdown and drills, and I think I'm back on track now. Had a large bucket of extra crispy KFC at the range today.
I find that I top my shots if I do not keep my head behind the ball until it is gone. This is a struggle for me at times but when I do, I hit the ball so much better.
Thanks @Tom Saguto . I just sent you my driver swings on V1 app. Never used that before, so hopefully I did it right.
@bh11 - Topping the driver is typically not a result of too much lateral hip slide; oftentimes it's the opposite since topped shots occur when the swing's low point shifts backwards. Please have a look at my reply to this recent post from a fellow member related to the driver. Yours is definitely not a unique issue, and we'll get you through this - either through existing drills or with a V1 Analysis!
Aside from this, I'm very glad to learn of your increased crispiness!!
