Dont know if anyone else experiences this but looking for some advice.
My ”normal” miss is 15-20 foot left of target if i aim straight for it. But if i try aiming 20’ right of my target ill thin the shot or completely shank it. The swing and alignment appear to look the same, but the contact is poor 50% of the time.
is this just an “in my head“ thing i need to work on? its a draw shape but a pull for the miss.. but a straight right if i try to compensate for it..
@Tom Saguto seen this before?
@Bazza Clarke - Never underestimate the subconscious power of the brain. It can sense when we are not aligned properly and trigger compensatory moves. This can throw your swing path off and cause a variety of mishits.
Read your ball flight. If, for example, the ball's starting direction is left of the target, then you know that your clubface is shut to the target line at impact. Then reverse engineer the cause from there? Am I addressing the ball with a slightly closed face? Is my ball position too far forward? Is my weight handing back and closing the face at impact? Etc.
We can train our brain to allow itself to be "tricked" with a controlled misalignment, but whenever possible it's preferable to diagnose the root cause and install the appropriate fix.
