I know my headers are weird and vague and you might never know what the body of the post will be but, this is kind of serious to me, so here it goes. I have been losing weight. about 50 pounds or so. A few weeks ago I realized that my Lead hand, base of my middle finger has developed a pain that does not seem to get better. I also noticed that my wedding ring can now slip off my finger with little or no effort. Is it possible that because the ring is shifting about because it is no longer tight could be the source of this pain?
It's not an overbearing pain and almost feels muscular ( do we have finger muscles?)
Anyway. It is concerning since it does not get better. could it be the ring?
I'm not a physician, but suggest a simple experiment. If your ring is so loose, you run the risk of losing it. Take it off and go to the jeweler to have it resized. This may take a week or so. During that time, rest your hand. Perhaps ice it for 10 minutes a few times a day. If it feels better, hit some balls. If it doesn' start to hurt again. You know it it was the ring that caused the problem. If it starts to hurt again, find a hand orthopedist, and get it checked out.
Don't worry about your wife worrying about you out and about without a ring. First of all, she'll be really upset if you lose it. Second of all, you can enjoy any attempts to woo you without giving in.
Good luck.
I concur with @rcissell56. Will your wife allow you to take the ring off for an adequate period of time for you to determine if that is the source? I do realize the risk in doing so as you now reside in "Florida's Friendliest Hometown".....😎
Congratulations on the weight loss. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, so I can't help diagnose your source of pain. If it continues, you may want to have it checked out. Good luck!
