those are with range balls. What is the distance difference with range balls and Calloway super soft or Bridgestone E6
I am a club short of everyone in my group. Hoping as I settle in this will be one step back for two steps forward.
Here are my average distances from the past year. In reality, since I play 1 length clubs, I rarely hit full swings from 9i-LW. Regardless, this is real world on course distances.
It’s mental on the putts and chipping . Also around here not many places to practice . With covid you can only get out of car 15 min before game usually . It could ve course management and physically
"Never had a round with under 37 putts." That's still a lot of putts, even in the amateur world. But, as @Nocona Colt Abernathy suggests, it may be that you're leaving yourself too many long ones due to issues with course management and/or the other aspects of your short game. Have you been through the school's chipping, pitching, and bunker courses? They may help, as proficiency in these areas will take a lot of pressure off your putting.
Also, an excellent book that may help you is "Fearless Golf: Conquering the Mental Game" by Dr. Gio Valiante. Several school members have benefited considerably from it.
I can‘t get back spin on low irons to stop the ball fast
My usually miss is not long or really short. It’s usually bigger draw or bigger fade . The length is usually ok . They courses I play are not big greens
Thanks but those are average distances with controlled swing . If I swing hard it’s usually big slice so it’s a nice relaxed swing . I usually under club as most courses here have hard fairways and let it bounce or roll up . Sometimes I go for the flag . Depends on green and how I’m hitting it
It’s not just putts . Short game is a struggle . If on a par 4 I don’t hit green on second . I usually chip on and seldom
make that putt. So say a 360 par 4. my drive is 225 then have 135 in so usually a 9 or wedge . If I’m around green in rough and chip usually not within 10 feet and 2 putt. I sometime get it close and one put then there is at least one 3 putt. Not just putting but that is the main thing . Also some bad drives or duff approaches etc
I have been practicing . When I’m out at the practice greens I get to know the breaks and speeds . The problem is it’s the only practicenshort game area around. And the greens are nice but slow and most of the courses have faster greens so don’t get a good feel on distance . A few putts to long and I start leaving it all short and vice versa . I have an odyssey white hot putter and I like it . I only play once every 10’days . Courses only opened in early april
and closed for covid until late may and hard to get a good tee time. So I can practice around 15 min before round ( protocols ). These are not excuses alway putted like that .
My putting is horrible . mynalignment is horrible . I put a line on ball and align that to where I want to hit it , pick a spot in front my usually off and I play different courses all
season and the greens are fast to slow etc and my speeds are way off. Chipping is better than it was . Never had a round wirh under 37 puts. I am usually low 90’s around 91 or 92.
I have taken a
couple putting lessons and worked on alignment with the line . The biggest problem is I can’t read greens . Watched videos . I can see how it kinds of break but not start it out one ball from cup etc
You're actually above average for amateurs on distance. The real question is, how does your score compare? I play with bombers who lose their timing mid round and then they're done. Distance is great, but being able to walk up to a ball and know what distance you'll hit consistently and the direction is much more important.
Just for reference, I hit my irons the same as what you have listed.
Thanks , I am the shortesr hitter in my group . Not by much if I can keep those yardages . It’s the driver inwant more distance
Those are certainly respectable yardages, @jscott5150. And range balls can be 10% (or more) shorter!
