Hi Tom,
I like your instructions on the upper arms being pressed against the sides of your body and bring them back into the backswing as a fixed unit. My question is when do the arms get “released “ from this feeling in the downswing?
Thanks very much!
Steve
Thanks!!

If you've executed the backswing properly you should be in a stacked position at the top with approximately 70% of your weight on the front side, your lead arm 45 degrees across the chest and on or nearly matching your tilted shoulder plane, your trail arm folded to 90 degrees, and your hands deep behind the trail shoulder. From there your lead arm leaves the chest to start the downswing and begins to trace the correct in-to-out path back down to the ball. The arms do not distance themselves from each other; they retain the same structured relationship pre-established at address.
Have a look at this description of the downswing in the Get Out and Go Play course. It is then followed by two drills that should answer your question and help you put it into action.
