15th hole par 3 at Sugarloaf GC in Sugarloaf, PA. Center of green is 200 yards (White tees). Elevated tee and green.
You'll need at least 150 yard carry to clear water hazard and another 10 to miss the fescue before sloping uphill to the green. Trees on the right with a parking lot loaded with cars behind them. A bunker on the left and the rest is history. How would you play this hole? Clue: Do not attack the flagstick.
My default strategy when things aren't going quite right: Hit it hard. Find it. Hit it hard again...
Signing off for Easter. Enjoy!
@johnpfistnerjr - CBS called. Nance wants you to do the hole-by-hole flyover analysis of Amen Corner next week....
Great stuff!!
Towered by wall of trees between me and an elevated green on the right. PW works for me. Shoulders match slope (Play the slope) Lots of weight forward. Ball left of center (right handed). Shaft lean forward much more than a normal set up. I literally feel like I'm pushing the club forward delofting the clubface. I hit a punch shot and there is not much of a follow through. (Looks like a flop shot...maybe I should call it, the plop shot?) The trajectory is high and climbs over the trees and plops on the green. The PW ensures I get my distance which is taken away by the apex of the ball flight to reach above the trees. I do this everytime I'm in that position. I avoid that area but then again...anything happens in golf. This is one of my stock trick shots along with a low punch shot to get from under trees. Please, discuss this with our beloved swing coach, Tom Saguto, on his recommendations for these type of shots. This just happens to work best for me. Do share your difficult holes, course, etc.
Knoebels 3 Ponds GC (Elysburg, PA) Hole #6 par 3..170+ yards. The difficulty of this hole is it plays longer than it looks. It's an elevated green. Small pond about 2/3 to the hole. If you hook it left, your ball is lost in the lumber. The green is also 2 tiered slope step down left to right. Over shoot green, there is a back drop to stop it. Where I marked on pic seems to be a safe miss hit location. (Slice or strong push fade) There is a blockade of trees between the ball and the green. A low punch shot between trees is impossible due to lack of space between. Trees are somewhat towering above you. First thing, you don't want to go in that area but there is a way out I had accomplished several times since most of my miss hits and off target shots end up. The method I use may be different from how Sagutogolf uses since I'm not in a position to teach golf but I can tell you how I personally got over the trees and onto the green. How do I get over those trees on the ight and onto the green ? Check in comments. BTW...it is an uphill shot.

See that little pocket on the right where the cart path is at? Soft PW...
Tin Cup: "He's laying it up!" 😆
5 iron with the wrath of god. I usually get a little draw. If i mentally can’t handle the hole and slice it then do not pass go and do not collect 200
Awesome! You can do it! 👍I'd sliced over those trees into the parking lot BOING on the pavement THWAP! (Think 60s Batman series)...hit someone's vehicle.👍⛳🏌️♂️Note: Never park on the otherside of those trees.
A majestically high push-draw taken over the trees with a 6 iron. If it doesn't draw enough (usually not my problem) I'm banking on a nice carom off the windshield of that black F-150.
Depending on how I was striking that particular day, I'd probably grab my 7 wood and just go for getting on that piece of the green right of the bunker.
