Tom -- Continuing to work with the method, changing old habits. Today on ranger and course many shots were fat, behind the ball and divot back. Why? Also, many drives were high slices.
Trying to use flatter plane, Rahm-style, as in your latest video. But club face too open. What can I do?
Same with me as I move to the S&T. This is helpful from both Doug and Tom. Thanks.
I had a few fat shots today. Not too bad, but fat none the less, I could feel after the swing that my arms were too active in the downswing.
Thanks to all, encouraging advise. Will press on.
@Joshua Flynn Nothing, I mean NOTHING gets me more worked up then a fat shot! I would rather air mail the green with a thin shot then hit it fat. I know that decelerating the club on downswing will often hit behind ball. There has to be a controlled aggressiveness. Also when I power the swing too much with my arms I can hit fat shots. Don't get discouraged, keep working at it.
@rmalaspina - @Joshua Flynn is absolutely correct about the low point being too far back. This causes both fat and thin shots.
Assuming you have mastered the foundational elements in Chapter 1 (which is absolutely essential, because they do differ from your previous swing and you will struggle to learn this swing without the proper setup), the 90% Weight Forward/Arms Straight Drill should help you to ingrain the proper feels specific to your issue. It's not an easy drill, but it is very effective, so be sure to spend sufficient time to properly learn, execute, and master it. You'll know you're doing it properly when impact is consistently crispy, divots are occurring past the ball, and ball flight is a repeatable little push-draw.
Perhaps your low point is too far back. Ball shouldn’t be in the direct middle of stance but just slightly forward.
