Hey SG community! Had another big aha moment at the range today. Read an earlier post in which someone from the SG community stressed the importance of filming and studying your swing. Well today was my epiphany! I thought I was following the chapter 2.8 sequence to a T and was actually hitting some crispy shots on the range. Got out the V1 app and filmed several face on and side videos of shots with 9 and 7 irons as well as hybrid, 3-wood and driver. Hit some pretty crispy KFC shots and some duds (of course I only saved the crispy ones). Got home and started reviewing and analyzing my swings with the V1 app and oh man was it an eye opener. I am a bonafide chopaholic!!! I was chopping all over the place!!! Even though I hit several decent shots it was such an eye opener!! The biggest flaw I noticed was that I was bringing the club back high above my right shoulder and basically lifting it up and then coming down wayyyyy too steep. When Tom says to bring the club back at your belt buckle level he’s not kidding! It was a humbling but highly motivating discovery. I am excited to get back out to address my choppiness and put the ax to bed once and for all! I thought I had 2.8 down and was following all the sequencing to a T but in reality I realize I’m probably only half way there. It was an eye opener but also a huge motivator.
So in summary SG crowd, you MUST videotape and analyze your swing! You will notice flaws in your swing that you never realized existed but it will also be liberating as the truth shall set you free!
Absolutely, @kipheeg!! While the brain may tell us what we want to hear, the camera doesn't lie!!
Today's technology makes it so easy. All you need is an inexpensive tripod or a willing accomplice. Seeing exactly what you are doing will make practice time so much more productive!
Great post. I'll go ahead and pin it for more to see!
