I am curious the type of golf balls people play . My driver speed is between 90-95 mph and was told to play mid compression and have been playing the green Calloway superhot matte balls. I like them but a little expensive . I’m just curious if people find the compression ratings really make a difference . Will lower compression balls really lose distance with my speed . Will low spin help my fade b3 more straight giving me longer yards even though low spin balls are lower compression etc

As another approach to ball selection: whenever I have the choice or $ to spend I get Pinnacle Gold or Slazenger. Why? Because they look cool, it feels real good grabbing one out of the bag and teeing up. The ‘Brand’ marketing they did for their product has worked For me, And that good feeling helps me swing better, I’m sure of it. Especially the panther logo. And for me, you gotta take every opportunity to feel good when out on the course.
If anyone is interested Vice is offering a free dozen when you buy 5 dozen. It right on the front page of their website promo code freedozen
I don’t do rap just can’t see any songs by lynard skyner or 70s southern rock . I’m 54 so loved southern rock and SEGER .
tom yiu need another video on the guitar wirh some 70’s rock

this conversation certainly went on a tangent! LOL Pop Pop Pop ya balls!
I won’t be crossing at that cost , was $3.50 to cross the bridge . I have one addiction and that is no sugar/ diet mtn dew. In Canada they haven’t produced any in well over a year because they use the cans for other flavours . And other fun foods USA has that Canada doesn’t . But not paying $200 for balls and pop . Sound like a rap song
All I will
say is we are 1-0
vs USA in war . SCOREBOARD . 💪
Good one Tom , I actually bought lots of stuff in USA , would cross once a month as on 45 min drive . So much more selection food drinks clothes etc gas is cheaper . And I need new golf shoes and am 13 extra wide . Next to impossible to find in Canada unless through mail and then takes weeks . Maybe august 21 open depends on numbers and vaccines and protocols . The govt here says you need a clean covid test and the companies are charging $190 a test . And be double vaccinated
Did you hear how Canada got its name? A few hundred years ago a bunch of people had congregated up there and decided they should name the place. They couldn't agree on a name, so they decided to put letters in hat and name it based on whatever letters they pulled. So the put all the letters on pieces of paper, the head guy reaches in and pulls our a 'C'. He holds it up to the crowd and says "C, eh" Next letter, "N, eh". Next letter "D, eh."
And now you know. . . .
Rim shot from the man in Litchfield!
The Vice Pro Plus was actually one of the group I tested on the launch monitor and performed just as well, so no hesitancy recommending Vice.
In Canada vice balls with tax are a little over $2 a ball
I would go with the Vice balls. I think you'll be pretty happy with them, especially for the price! I bought 60 for $60 I've been working off of them for months
Thanks Danny , I sort of have the same attitude . But at over $3 a ball and I have a round where pulling or big hooks and thata another 15 -2o in balls . That’s why I was asking for cheaper balls
I still lose too many balls to even care. Lately I've been using the Vice Drive balls. I can get them for $1 a ball and I don't care when slice one into the woods. I found one of THE most demoralizing aspects of playing crappy golf was spending all that time trying to find the ball. Now, I just have quick look and if I can't find it I just drop another one. I'm not playing any kind of competition. So, its all just practice anyway. This attitude of not holding these little orbs as jewels I just had to find changed the enjoyment factor by an immeasurable degree.
If I was to go back and give myself one piece of advice at the beginning of my adventures into golf it would be "buy cheap or even used balls and just drop another one when your shot goes awry" Slice one over onto the next fairway, let it go and take another. It takes far less time to go look for an errant ball than to simply drop another. Especially at the beginning when good shots are all too elusive...
I'm playing much better golf these days but, not good enough to really notice a difference between any ball because of my inconsistency. You should probably be honest and determine what percentage of the time you hit it pure and then ask yourself if the result of your common shot would really see a difference. If you aren't sticking the green very often, why even care if your ball is good at holding the green, for now. I guess if you're competing on some level, you'd want every advantage you can get. So, why not splurge on balls for that. I just think that taking any source of anxiety or stress out of your normal trip around course will pay greater dividends than any equipment based purchase. If you go out there and start bumming out because you lost a ball or two, how is that adding to your enjoyment or removing any negative thoughts?
I'll literally play any ball I find! Other than that I think I'll be sticking with my $1 Vice balls. Maybe I'll move up to their $1.50 ProV1 comparable ball some day soon. I have to say though, I do like the Vice Drive balls. They feel nice and when I hit a pure shot and I really get some mileage. Yesterday I stuck the green from over 160 yards out, twice! And both times that ball stuck, to my amazement!
Just my $0.02
Danny
Thanks the reason I was asking as I usually play the Calloway superhot and they are kind of expensive in Canada . A box wirh 15 is usually around $45 but are sold
out basically everywhere except Amazon and with tax are $62. I was looking at the super soft but it says if your driver speed is over 90 mph maybe try something else . Mine is 90-95 mph. I never know if this is hype or based on real testing etc and if they say loss of distance are they saying 3-5 yards on driver etc . For $62 can probably get pro v1 but tried them ar a tournament and didn’t. Like them . No golf galaxy etc here only golftown and you can’t really get on any of the two machines unless buying clubs or club fitting and wait is months away cause everything only opened in June .
also anyone play volvik Balls as my eyes aren’t as good as before and the colours do help
I'm with you. I've tried them all and found the Callaway soft or super soft jump off the face.
Thanks ,
Excellent advice, @mpandichjr!!!
Low spin balls will definitely help reduce the effects of fades, slices, etc BUT if your swing is producing excessive spin, it isn't going to make much of a difference. It is very hard to go to the manufacturer's websites and determine the right ball that is really going to have a significant difference in your game (straightness, distance, control, etc). For example, I play the ChromeSoft ball, then they came out with an X version, and now an LS version. I used to play only Pro V1, but they went back and forth between the V1 and V1x. It is really hard to figure it out on the golf course. We have a high-end indoor simulator at our club, so I got my Pro for an hour and brought in a sleeve of 6 different balls to see which were best for my swing. There was very little difference in yardage with any of them. In fact, The Callaway Supersoft outperformed the ChromeSoft and is about 40% less cost. What was also important for me was stopping ability on the green. I occasionally play with guys who just play the cheapest balls available at WalMart that are hard as a rock but they can never hold the green.
To get settled in your mind, go to Dick's or Golf Galaxy, tell them what you want to do, pay the $45 or whatever they charge for an hour, and settle it for yourself. I really wouldn't rely on someone else's recommendation on this because swing speeds/path can be so much different. At least you will know for certain what ball you should be playing for the price point you are willing to pay. I don't mind paying more for golf balls because I rarely lose one now. Once a ball starts getting a little worn looking, mainly cosmetic, it goes into the shag bag. Usually every 6-7 rounds.
Good luck.
