Hi
Just wanted to ask if someone could help determine proper grip size.
My glove size is Medium or between Medium/Large
Im a little confused by those online measurement styles.
Glove size suggests that i should use Regular grip size
One measurement is that when you grip with the lead hand the index and forefingers should just barely touch that thumb pad. For me even when i grip the Jumbo grip my fingers still touch that pad or even go under it slightly.
One measurement is that you take a measure from your wrist grease to the top of your middle finger, that suggests for me to have a Regular or Midsize grip.
Right now i have Midsize grips and i have one problem with them. When i grip my trail hand, either the club gets too much in the fingertips and then the greases between both hands doesnt match. Or i grip with the trail hand properly and then i start to have that Crab claw problem and cant keep the thumb and forefinger pinched together.
Today i tried Regular size grips and to me it feels the best. Even though my lead hand fingers get really under that thumb pad which suggests that the grip size is too small, i can get a very secure grip without squeezing the life out of the club and there is no crab claw issue.
What grip sizes are you others using and do you have any suggestions for me?
Right now it feels like i can get the most secure grip with least amount of grip pressure, without crab claw issues, are the Regular grips.
It's an often-overlooked yet critically important pressure point, @Jari Hissa, as it certainly puts the proper wrist hinge on autopilot!
@Jari Hissa - My two cents on this is to first make sure that you are indeed gripping the club properly in the fingers as per the instruction in Chapter 1, as well as in my related videos on the channel and as discussed in the S&T book. For example, an attachment that is too much in the palms can make a properly-sized grip feel too small as the fingers will have more room to wrap around the handle.
Beyond that, remember that just like lie angles and shaft length/flex, we are not all "stock models" and as such should not necessarily expect stock equipment - including grip size - to match our unique features. Sometimes they do; sometimes not so much. What you are doing is good and necessary - trying different sizes to see what feels best to you while facilitating proper hand and wrist action in the swing motion.
