Hi Tom I'm making progress but very slow. I keep hitting the ball right will both driver and irons some time. I also am not taking a divot in front of the ball with my irons. I'm getting great distance with the driver though not so much with irons not pinching the ball but hitting it clean. What can I do to fix this

@Bill Mo - I am a little confused. The title of the post says you are hitting it left but your post itself says you are hitting it right? Which is it - a straight push (to the right for a right\handed player) or a straight pull?
Also, some excellent advice from @Matt Rutkowski in his reply. That 90% Weight Forward/Arms Straight Drill fixes a variety of issues. It's not an easy drill, but it is very effective, so be sure to spend sufficient time to properly learn, execute, and master it. You'll know you're doing it properly when impact is consistently crispy, divots are occurring past the ball, and ball flight is a repeatable little push-draw.
I had a similar problem picking the ball clean and not taking a divot. I was getting good distance but the contact Always felt a little thin. I fixed this by making sure my lead shoulder was pointing at the ball at the top of my backswing. I also spent a lot of time mastering the 90% weight forward drill. It really helps with getting the low point of the swing just forward of the ball. I also read a really good tip in another thread where it helped to focus on hitting a spot just in front of the ball. Hope this helps!
