I know it's hard to believe that I don't have a handicap, But I have not played enough golf with others to have one. I have not played in a group other than friends or company-type outings where your score was your score. I would really love to play at the pro-am. I looks like I will need a handicap to compete.Or just play for funzies. How the heck do I get one and how much golf do I have to play in order to get one? Can I play several rounds by myself and establish it that way? I don't even know how to calculate one. I watched a few videos but can find how you establish one. If I have to play some rounds I can do that but I don't even know where to start.
Thank you
I use an app called 'The Grint' . It's a free app also with paid membership tiers. It integrates with USGA. You can enter your data in this app and it sends it to USGA for HC index calculation. It also collaborates with other golfers (your friends) to see what they are up to.
You don't need one to play for fun.
But you will need a sanctioned one to compete.
@Tom Saguto suggestion to visit a course is best way to go. I mean there are plenty of ways to track your own handicap by entering scores with free online sites. But they will not be recognized unless sanctioned by state association.
Sounds like you have a passion for sure, hope to meet you there one way or another.
@Tom Holt - With all those courses there at The Villages, why not stop in at one of the golf shops and speak with the pro about how to get the process started?
