Slowly but surely things are getting better. I was averaging in the mid to upper 80s when I started this program. Going through a swing change is difficult, and I had several rounds in the mid to upper 90s. Was wondering if it was worth it, and was very flustered. Bit I stuck with it and focused on drill 2.8 and 90% weight forward. Would go to the range and do nothing but those drills over and over.
My last two rounds have been 81 and 85. The 85 was with a triple bogie....thanks to a lost ball, and two 3 putts, so it had the potential to be an 80 or 81 also. My irons are so much better and my ball contact has never been better. I‘ve picked up distance on every club although I feel like my swing is much shorter and feel like I am swinging about 80% of what I used to. It’s amazing what clean contact in the center of the face can do.
The driver still needs some work. Not getting a draw yet, it is a slight fade that is very playable though. Much better than the big slice I had.
Finally starting to trust the draw with my irons, I’ve always hit a fade or slice, and an getting used to the new distances.
Not saying it is all there yet but it is so much better and my scores are definitely trending down. Anyone who is struggling, stick with it and do drill 2.8 and 90% weight forward. I know I still have a lot of work to do but it has been so much fun playing the last couple of rounds.
@Allen S buddy, I am there with you. It’s winter here, but thanks to a South Carolina golf trip excursion, feel like I have jump started the year. Same experience. I have scored poorly…but had some shots that were a first for me…the feel, sound, flight. Enough to tell me I am on the right path. Getting super excited about the progress and ready for some consistent golf weather (it was about 70 degrees today).
This is awesome to hear @Allen S !I've definitely been making progress with some rounds in the mid 80s which for me is great but last few have been atrocious. Your post gives me hope to keep battling and start to see that consistent trend downward.
It's amazing when you do it right! We get so much distance with much less strain. It almost feels like cheating!
Great stuff, "Ghostbuster" Allen, and I appreciate your kind words regarding the online school!!
Keep it Krispy!!
Fantastic progress, @Allen S!! Thanks for sharing your experience so far. Seems to me like you are getting very close to the next scoring milestone!!
I'm going to pin your post for more to see. It's all about embracing the process - because you know it works - and battling through the setbacks and frustrations that are certain to occur as we fight back the ghosts of swing past.
Nice job!!
