Like I stated, this will be the 1st true training aid I have purchased.
But in my endeavors in this life with other competitive sports in my younger days and other ventures, training and aids is not a one size fits all. What I have found is that something that we might love and feels great using, might not be accomplishing the end goal or the reason we decided to engage in the training method.
So for me, the Lag Shot seems like it will address what my needs are and for my physical and "feel" needed to get where I want to be more. And if accomplishes that goal, it will be kept in my tool box for when swing reverts back or I need to polish things up.
Not knocking the statement "I can hit that club for hours". But for me the training aid has to transfer to my clubs and swing. The goal is for it to have to be used on a less and less basis (like I said to polish or tune up swing).
In my short time interacting with Tom and this great forum and fellow golfers. The telltale sign for me is in new components or dills, have a different feel and know progress is being made and ingrained somewhat when a level of comfort (backed of by video) becomes part of swing!
After just 1 video lesson with Tom and setting up Home Range & having video rolling for myself. I believe that is the biggest and most important help and the way forward(at least for me). Video!!!! Video is a self critique that will be on in all my home sessions and on occasion at the Outdoor facility.
1 final tidbit, like @Tom Saguto responded to me there is no picture perfect golf swing! ( see the different swings on tour). But there are foundations and components we should endeavor to incorporate.
And training aids I now realize have to fit what we are trying to accomplish within out unique swing.
Sorry for being so long winded.(NY Italian originally)!
@ryen91 If you haven't already figured it our from my lessons and drills, I'm all about exaggerating "feels" in order to correct a stubborn old habit. For example, if I can get a former shifter/lifter to feel as though they have 90-100% of their weight forward and their hands a hip height at the top of the backswing, then they're probably in reality going to be exactly where I want them at around 70% forward with the lead arm on the shoulder line. So I absolutely get what you're saying about what you did to correct the old roll it open move.
I suggested the either-or option in the event you were considering getting PSP or LagShot. Of course both would be ideal, but if funds are limited - or if that pleasant female voice in the background of your video might perhaps become less pleasant at the notion of golf expenditures 😎 - then getting one now and the other at a later date might be the wiser (and safer) move.....
@ryen91,
I am probably the least qualified to respond but just wanted to make a comment.
For sure @Tom Saguto &@Russell Hogue, PhD, this is there wheelhouse!
