I just want to let some of you guys know what has / is working for me more than any other swing movement.
Quick background on me. I'm the guy with no patience that would never stick with a method after it stopped working. I think I've tried something from every YT teacher out there. It works for a week and then I'd go play and it wouldn't. Rinse/repeat.
The best discovery for me was, KEEPING MY LEAD ARM STRAIGHT ON THE DOWNSWING. I've always practiced a straight lead arm on the backswing but, never thought about it straight at impact. This isn't something that most instructors really emphasize. I really noticed it while doing lead only swings hitting the ball. I realized that, since we Coil down on the backswing, we need to un-coil on the downswing. I was hitting fat behind the ball with lead arm only swings. This made me adjust and pull my arm up if I were to keep my arm straight. Hitting the ground fat gave me "golfers elbow".
Once I figured out what my body needed to do in order to hit the ball with a STRAIGHT lead arm, everything else was easy.
I bought a straight arm trainer from Amazon and I could feel my arm wanting to bend inside of it. It is a completely different feeling hitting with a straight arm. You don't realize that your bending your arm.
I highly recommend buying an elbow swing trainer. One that doesn't bend at all.
I hope this will help someone else. It was the missing piece to my golf journey .
its not good for full swings because our left arm bends and the right arm straightens after contact. I hit knock downs. its the "just past contact" that we're after, IMO.
