There is a great positive in life that only comes when the years remaining are less than your handicap - failure to do something brings a sigh "aaaaaagh" rather than an outpouring of expletives &.$$$##(*&
I look at how effortless Tom seems in tilting his shoulder and chinning his golf ball - then I compare to my own videos. For starters he has more hair, but a hat evens the match. I'm better looking, but hey, he's young enough to work on it.😀But here's the thing - I've got two chins (maybe more) and a physique more in the shape of a wonderful golfing character from the seventies and eighties called Craig Stadler (The Walrus).
I could drive a bus between Tom's chin and his shoulder during his back-swing - whereas mine push my head back like I was auditioning for that famous scene in the original Exorcist movie. If I was pushing that bus, my extra lbs might be useful.
So for now, my focus is on Stack and Tilt without falling over. 😃
So, here's the question, does size matter?
@norman morrow - I've struggled with this question myself. Which is why I'm working on getting in better shape more than working on the golf swing. The answer is yes and no. No, in the way that Tom is saying you can still get good crispy contact. That should not be an issue.
But, it's more about flexibility then just simple size, but it definitely can get in the way. I would say it definitely affects distance, if it limits your ability to get your hands behind your shoulders (deeper).
But, on the other hand, Force = Mass x Acceleration, so if you can swing it fast, you'll hit the ball further.
I'm 6' 5" and hit the ball crispy. Like a giant whip. Size doesn't matter.
Hilarious, @norman morrow!! Yet a valid question embedded in there nonetheless. Does body type/shape matter? Absolutely. It will effect how we address the ball as well as our swing plane, and it also most definitely comes into play with regard to the proper fitting of our equipment. However, this swing system is not exclusive; it works well across all body types. It's really just a matter of learning it correctly from the ground up - literally, beginning with the feet, knees, and hips in our foundation and building from there. So while the setup posture and swing motions may look different for different golfers using the same method, the outcome of crispy impact and a desirable ball flight is achievable for all.
