This really is a great drill to keep right knee and hip from going forward towards the ball….just tried it on the range and had good success as my miss is a big hook mainly caused by that right knee and an excessive in to out path.
Anyone else tried and had success with it or any other drill to get rid of dreaded hooks??
thanks @llydisommma1 ! thanks for the post!
@Tom Saguto @llydisommma1 this is funny because just a few days ago I was watching your vlog on the S&T camp and the practice sessions.. the whole time wishing I was there taking it all in with you Tom! looked awesome.
Anyway.. Tom you mentioning that this was to fix hooks and straight pushes made a lightbulb go off. My irons do the straight push a lot and my hybrid has a mix of that and "post patterns left" fairly consistently. reviewing my videos of my swing my right knee just wants to be buddies with that ball so bad so I think this definitely applies to me too. where can I find a video on this drill. it looks like @llydisommma1 is referring to one.
check out this video of my knee.. this was a straight push with maybe a bit of draw:
@llydisommma1 - That drill was actually given to me directly by S&T co-founder Andy Plummer during my lesson with him a year ago at the S&T Instructor Camp in Miami. He referred to it as the "bowler", which is the same trail leg action as the skateboard. I needed it for the same reason you stated - an excessively shallow downswing path that was creating huge draws and straight pushes. If interested, here is a video of that entire lesson with Andy. And here is an unedited video of my practice session during which I was working on that move.
Anyway, I'm very glad to know that it is helping you!!
