Just had the worst round in a loooong time . Where do I go from here and how do I clear my head for my next round ? I had some good shots but just overall shot awful ! Please help.
I feel your pain... I've been here more times than I'd like to admit.
I belive the issue here is, old swing habits creeping back in an you end up with some crazy hybrid swing that just doesn't work. Gotta check yourself before each shot. For me, i start overextending with the arms swing and coming over the top. A nightmare begins!
Lately, it seems i have 3 things that helps me stay in the correct swing. 1. Keep the head still. For me, it's not taking my eye off of my impact spot and making sure my perspective remains the same. 2. Shoulder down. 3. Get those hips going!
So what I'm doing now;
Standing behind the ball, swing the club and make sure the hips are what's starting the swing. Might take 2 or 3 quick ones. I then step up to the ball, address the ball and remind myself to "keep your head still" so those things are set. Then it's, get that Shoulder down and fire the shot. It's been working OK. I'm now moving to playing the shot and not the swing. I'm at the very beginning of that but, none the less, moving on to it!
Figure out what keeps your new swing working. Then, take your shot. Like was mentioned recently, think box (the rehearsal), swing box (the shot). I may have miss quoted that... but, in short, get the swing worries out during rehearsal and then go to your shot relieved of them and fire the club.
@danny Thank you for the advice. I currently do some of the same as you do. I do notice its the bad habits creeping in for sure once and awhile . So im trusting the process and knowing it will all work out. Todays round was so much better, thanks again :)

At least, that's my current routine.
