Whats in my bag?.. well a year ago I picked up 3 secondhand clubs just to go hit on the driving range to see if I liked it.. random 7 iron, PW and a driver.. could not hit the driver at all..
After a couple of weeks I bought a set of Callaway edge from a facebook post.. and found Saguto golf at around the same time played a round Made 102… played a second round 3 weeks later after practicing 2 hours a day every day and hit 87… from then I was hooked
In Oct I replaced the callaway Irons with Wilson D9s after hitting them in the pro shop, they just felt “better”..then recently replaced the woods with PXG 22degree Hybrid, 3 wood and 9.5 Driver all from the 0211 range
put over sized grips on the woods and they are now performing really well.. im super happy
i am struggling with 170-210 range clubs, and I hit a few balls with callaway bigbertha 5 and 4 irons, these with graphite shafts an might be adding those to the bag, hitting them the same as the hybrid seems ok… but lets see.. i have a cleveland 60’ too really zippy plus the stock wedges that came in the Wilson set
so D, 3 22’Hybrid PXG; 5-Sw Wilson D9, Cleaveland 60 , and a whitehot Putter.. 13 clubs in there right now, but might switch out the 5 iron and add the 2 BigBerthas soon

Regular bag:
King Cobra F9 driver
King Cobra One length utility 3i
King Cobra One length Forged Tec 4-GW
King Cobra One Length SW 54 degree
King Cobra one Length LW 58 degree
Putter: changes all the time - Arm Lock always - Bettinardi, Scotty, King Cobra, SIK
Substitution clubs:
King Cobra One Length 3 Hybrid (hate hybrids, but some courses with thicker rough or faster courses like to hybrid for higher ball flight (Replaces 3i).
50/50 - Variable length clubs add distance and inconsistency. testing over winter to see if it’s worth adding:
King Cobra RadSpeed 4 hybrid - Carry 220y
King Cobra Radspeed 5Fwy - 240 yard carry,
Wedges - If I want to add more clubs can go to single wedge.
King Cobra One Length SW 56 degree
Putters - It’s an illness. Converted to arm-lock…usually I game the Bettinardi putter (Studio Stick 28 armlock or Kucher Armlock). planning to visit Bettinardi in Chicago in the next couple weeks To get fitted.
- Studio stock 8 daughter has taken
- Inovai (Conversion to armlock doesn’t feel right on the center shaft model) - also game the new King Cobra putter (love the sik face tech on these putters). Depending on how fitting goes with Bettinardi, May make full switch to Cobra.
- Scotty - retired and son took it.
- SIK - hate it. Gamed 1 time…too hot off face
Found what I think is an absolute bargain in the local charity shop today. Maxfli Revolution Black dot 3-PW in mint condition and a really nice Miller Golf Bag. £50 the lot. Seems that these are quite regarded clubs? God knows how they turned up in :London….! I hope they will inspire me to get back on the horse after a few months off. The combination of a depressing end of season collapse, which coincided with the Ryder Cup….!, muddy and wet weather over here, and COVID over Xmas, means I haven’t swung a club since September. I’ll be going back to Saguto Course basics next week and starting again at the beginning. Need to find a good hiding place for them first, as there are now 4 sets of clubs in the attic…….
This is what's in my bag...with lime slices....
I am playing Titleist DCI 981 irons which is what I played as a junior golfer 20 odd years ago. I also started playing with the 975D Titleist driver for nostalgia reasons until I upgraded to Titleist 910 D2 driver recently . I'm still learning to hit the driver with Stack and Tilt but god I do love my old Titleist irons.
Golf Range Club Holder
Took delivery of a new gadget today. Holds 6 Irons for taking to the range. Seems very well designed, the clubs slot in to the sides. Forgot that I had some blades up in the attic, MacGregor Tourney V Foils. My old teacher made me buy the Nike Slingshots instead, but if improvements continue, I may give them an outing.
Haven't got round to playing with these! Probably safer sticking with my Nike Slinghsots for now! All bought over the years from antique and charity shops. The leather Spalding bag always makes me think of Judge Smails!
Callaway Apex forged irons 4-PW(I will never go back to cast) stole these for $400, in excellent condition. The kid was upgrading to Mizuno blades.
52 degree Mizuno wedge picked up from play it again sports for $30
60 degree Adam's golf lob wedge, with a little lead tape. I experimented with some other 60 degree wedges out of the sand, this one performed best for me based on bounce, etc. I don't like a 56 degree sand wedge, I don't like the bounce in the sand I play and it doesn't get the ball up fast enough with how I swing. I don't like opening the face and trying to cut across the ball.
Ping 3 wood and Ping hybrid(love this club)
Apex hybrid, I cut the shaft on this a lot. It's the club I use when the 4 iron isn't long enough, my brother (who I play with) we call it "the mallet." Because that's what it looks like, not the most pleasing to the eye, but it gets the job done.
Ping G410 plus Driver that my brother bought me for $400. I think the loft is set at 10.5. Previously had the same Titelist driver as Tom, this was definitely an upgrade. Shots that weren't on the screws still went pretty far. Cut an inch or so off the shaft as I am a shorter guy. Jumbo grip, hit it with the "wrath of God". It's also got lead tape on the back and some on the bottom, much cheaper than the actual inserts. Looks like it belongs in a Road Warrior movie, lol.
Putter is a cheapy off Amazon that also has a lot of lead tape, I don't like light putters, I use a pendulum stroke and let the head do the work. I cut the shaft a lot to fit my stroke and my height, this is very important. Since it's a cheap putter, I didn't worry about how I've altered it. I had always used a blade putter and sucked, so I got this for something different, it picks the ball up real easy for when I leave the 5 foot par putt short by one ball, lol.
I can't give up my Ghost putter and Diablo Edge Woods from around 2011 they just work so well. Found a 5W on ebay for $50 in fantastic condition maybe two weeks ago.
The irons are only about a month old +1" and 2deg up.
The Cleveland Smart Sole SW and Chipper are new to the mix. The Chipper seems like CHEATING around the green!
Here’s my bag - all senior flex shafts. Mavrik Max driver, 3 wood and 5 hybrid, Taylormade Sim2 Max 4 - AW irons, 54 and 60 Cleveland wedges, and an odyssey putter. Thanks to Tom I am slowly learning how to hit them!
Desmond, I did research plus asked around and experts back up your opinion that "fitted clubs means everything if you have a swing. If your still trying to find a good swing then don't waste your time getting fitted. Your swing will constantly be changing."
In fact, multiple experts stated that fitted clubs can improve a bad swing technique therefore it results in golfers not correcting their swing mistakes. Experts agree; develop a strong, repeatable golf swing THEN get fitted for new golf clubs.
@johnpfistnerjr huu... 😮 a bunny!
Before it becomes said, I've heard it on another forum, why do mid to high handicappers talk golf like we know it all? We sound like we should be scratch players. It's misconstrued, we do not know it all. First, in our minds we are scratch players, it just hasn't come out of us yet. Two, we are excited golfers eagerly wanting to share our newly found knowledge and experiences gained from our golf journey. I'm on this forum and online training more than I am on Facebook. Facebook used to be fun. Funny thing is, I know everyone personally on my FB friends list. I have more fun chatting with you fine people, whom I do not know from Adam rather than those on my FB. FUBAR, huh? Sorry, I saw a squirrel. (Some of you may get that).
BTW-My so called condition with fatigue and pain in my arms (Radial arm syndrome) occuring in my round of golf, where I had to use graphite shafted clubs? It is almost non-existent when I do a proper takeaway and with a natural, not forced, wrist hinge. I was not keeping the straight arm across the chest. In my takeaway, ROLLING of arms/hands was causing my wrist to hinge side to side rather than up and down naturally. This caused me to be really laid back on the club and the weight of the club was compressing the muscles in my arms like twisting a wet rag. That is what it felt like. Sure, I could hit the ball but it was a major power leak (All arms swing, because I felt stuck and at times swing over the top because of it) and there would be some ball flight and ball striking inconsistencies. I posted something of this nature in the Takeaway or Backswing on this forum. I was doing the takeaway wrong this WHOLE time! Just a note for some of you golfers who may experience in the swing that may aggravate ailments or fatigue issues. Golf shouldn't hurt. Unless you got whacked with a club or ball. Check your set up to your swing. You'd be surprised. Got unwanted pain? Check it out. If it's back pain...there should be no back pain in this swing system.
Well, @MattMJF - You asked, and now you are at the mercy of the SG Community! Looks like there's a lot of good info in here and probably more to come!!
My personal take on this topic of club fitting: We're all unique in our physical attributes, so there is no reason that we should try to fit our respective swings to a stock grip size, shaft length, flex, swing weight, lie angle, etc. Let's have the equipment accommodate us and not vice versa!
@MattMJF BTW-You're on your way by having an achievable goal from 25 handicap to a 15. I was once in the same boat as you. Once I started to learn the S&T ,taught by Tom Saguto, and applied the lessons Tom teaches in his online training, my current handicap is a 13. You can do it!
