Like most S&T players, my stock shot is a push draw. And after a lot of mostly failed experimentation with shot shaping using the grid or the power fade method, I just don't have a fade that I can rely on. So I have pretty much resolved to just play my draw all the time, except when I absolutely can't. But sometimes due to trees or other hazards, there are certain holes that just don't fit my eye and I just can't get mentally comfortable with my alignment and commitment to the shot.
Anyone have any tips on this?
I hope one day I can also be looking at the hole and say " I will hit a fade or a draw" for now I am just try to hit a good contact shot consistently. I guess that's another good thing about the game, keep playing and keep learning.
@bh11 - Your brand of a fade exists; you just need to find it. If the Grid pull-fade doesn't cut it for you - pun not originally intended but just now recognized 😎 - then play around with the push-fade at the range. You should be somewhat comfortable because you are using the trail side of the downswing path, just as you would with your stock push-draw. Just align your feet, knees, hips, shoulders where you want the ball to start, align the clubface where you want it to finish, position the ball where you normally would for the push-draw, and then swing along your body line. Make little tweaks and experiment with different alignments. If that still doesn't work, then try making incremental adjustments to your grip.
