Tom, I’ve been your student for two years or so. I’ve rebuilt my swing based on your instruction.
I now hit the ball crispy with the wrath of God. However, the wrath part has often resulted in me hitting the ball off the planet. I’ve lost a dozen balls on my worse day. My friends tell me I’m the best, worst golfer they have ever seen.
So I got a piece of advice from a plus 1 last week. He said I need to club down, choke on up and swing easy. Even though I can hit an 8 iron 160 with the wrath of god, I can hit an easy 7 while remaining in control and true to your instruction.
Today, I enjoyed my best round ever. Four over on the front and ten over on the back nine. And I didn’t lose one ball! Hit the more fairways and greens in regulation than ever before.
Would have been a better day if the putter was working properly on the back nine!
Thank you.
I never think about what other better ball strikers use. I only think what will work for me and if that's taking one more club, so be it. I think most of us amateurs try to match what our teammates are using. Don't let pride get in the way of your swing.
lol, great job ! I have been a Seguto golfer for 3 months now, and i am enjoying the game more, and hitting more fairways and green. I am psyched to practice, doing drills that work, and getting out and playing ! Mashed potatoes to ALL !!
I don’t get crispy often but when I do it’s with Tommy Saguto
Nice to see you in the members forum, @Scott Bennett! I hope you'll make regular appearances here going forward.
Excellent job reining in your wrath! When I speak of that, I am not suggesting that we swing out of our shoes and thus destroy our rhythm. I generally find that for my game 80% of full throttle gives me plenty of distance with good control. I still go hard through the zone - the point where Mr. Hogan said that if he started his downswing properly with his lower body he wished he had three right hands to power the shot - but proper sequencing was the key to being able to do that.
Congrats on you personal best!! I've a feeling there's another one coming in your near future, especially if you can get the flatstick working for you! And now, in honor of your great performance.....
