@Tom Saguto gotta share my round today. Playing with my Sunday group. We play a quota Stableford scoring match each Sunday. Thanks to you I now have to pull 33 points to meet my quota! Today I pulled 42 points. Shot 6 pars and 3 bogies on the front side. Made the turn and once again lost my concentration on the 10th hole and doubled the hole for 0 points. Gave myself another talking to and got my mind back in the game. Parred 11 with 2 putts. Hole 12 is a short par 5. I drilled a drive down the middle and then hit my 5 hybrid from 168 yds. It went 168 yards and 2 feet on a rope right at the pin. Don't know how it didn't go in. Tapped in the putt for an eagle and 8 points. Then on 13, a short par 3, I overswung a PW and didn't get it to draw and it would up in the bunker. Wound up with bogey after a less than stellar chip from the rough between the bunker and the green and made a 7 foot putt to get a point with the bogey. Next hole is a short dogleg right with water down the left side. I have hit driver there before and came real close to the water that runs down the left and then swings across the fairway in front of the green. So I shaped a high cut 3 wood to about 130 yards out. Sent an easy 8 iron to about 10 feet left of the pin. Sunk the putt for birdie to get 4 points on that hole. Next hole is a pretty straight par 5. Drive split the fairway. Tried to hit my 3 wood too hard and fatted it with an early release. Ugh!! Told my cart buddy I would just have to wedge it close. Had a perfect number for my PW and hit it to ten feet behind the pin. Made the birdie putt. Parred 16 and 17. Number 18 is a dogleg left and the last two times I played the hole I over hooked my drive out of bounds. Decided to drive it straight out and just take whatever that gave me. I striped the drive straight off the tee and was 118 yards out. The green sits up a slope and the pin was in the back left quadrant. I'm sitting at plus 5 in the Stableford and thought I would just hit an easy 9 iron to the middle of the green and par it for two more points. Scorched it and drew it to 6 feet behind the pin. Made the birdie putt to finish at +9 points. My score was 73, I turn 72 years old next month. It will be my goal to shoot my age next year. The bottom line for today was I didn't really play golf swing, I just played golf. I trusted my setup and the S&T tenets ingrained in my subconcious.
Sorry for the long post, but thought you might like to hear how your instruction continues to provide me with happy days on the golf course. Thanks!
