Milestones??? Well, let's just say I had a rough golf season for 2021. It was either this or that or my mental game took a turn to absurd craziness so...Let's reset!
Upon taking a hiatus from golf where I normally play 3-4 times a week (Yes, my work schedule allows me this as well as a member of my local course here in PA), I was occupied on other personal things such as purchasing real estate. I may had only played 3 rounds in the last month or so. Where am I going with this? It was a much needed break. I'm back on my game. I shot an 81 the other day. 1 over on back 9 (71 par course) (See attached wrinkled scorecard from back pocket) 3 birdies that round. From the beginning of the 2021 golf season in March/April, I only had one birdie. My handicap jumped from 13 to 16. I was playing that bad. I couldn't hit a drive worth bantha fodder (ref: Star Wars) and my KFC crispiness became soggy chicken tenders or spoiled cole slaw or a bad Whammy burger! Yeah, my game wasn't working out at all. I was frustrated! I wanted to quit! Then...it happened...After nearly 3-4 weeks of not playing. I shot an 87. Then...82...This last round...81. (Let me remind you, I was shooting in the 90-100's prior to joining Sagutogolf.) My driver still needs work but I' hitting it with a straight or a slight draw flight. I don't record my club yardage anymore. As long as I hit the fairway, I don't care. My 2 best shots are my 2nd or approach swing and my final putt. But here is my scorecard...8 fairway drives, a pitch in for birdie and logged the clubs that set me up for the birdies. I'll add the cover of card. It shows my birdie hole (stretched bunker in front of green), #15.
As far as my handicap, the hcp indx app I use, recalculates after 3-5 rounds.
This is hole #13. This pic was taken from last season. However, my approach for GIR was similar the other day except it was pin low. Yes, I fix my divots and pot marks.
Mountain/Valley...score: 82
I don't get a lot of distance from my driver. I'd been struggling with driver for years. Occasionally, I do hit 250-270 yards but mostly 190-210. I don't know why. What I do know is, I had outscored players who do out drive me. (A buddy of mine, easily hits it 280+ but blades his chips/pitches and 3+ putts it)...they either don't have iron play or short game. Thank you, Tom, for teaching us the ways of Stack n Tilt. It works wonders for my irons! Otherwise, I'd still be scoring 90-100+. My short game is the force behind this Sagutogolf Jedi.
Welcome back, Jedi @johnpfistnerjr. A very nice debut with even better sequels! We can always do some more V1 work to restore The Force to your driver, but in the meantime your are KFC-ing your irons while your buddies apparently continue to comb the desert (Spaceballs reference).... 😎
Nice to see you in the Trophy Case!
Wow, nice! The mental break did you good! Also the new swing habits came through, congrats, nice work!
