I have been on the Ridge Creek Dinuba Golf Club, Short Game practice Greens for months. I think, that is, mostly sure, that my main clubs for use around the Greens out to 35 Yards are the 7i, GW, and the 56 Degree Wedge (SW). Practiced 7i at 15 Yards; GW at 25 Yards; SW at 35 Yards. I was having fun back spinning the ball with SW 35 Yards out. The ball had limited roll and stayed around the hole 8-10 feet. Once I get Ben Hogan and Stan Utley’s books on the Short game, I will put my Short Game at a whole new level.

Any updates? For short game, I spent so much time working on my short game when I first started so now I barely think about it. Most days when I play, I pitch and chip into a putting green as my warm up which gives me a feel for rollout. I probably use my 58 most of the time inside of 35 yards, but it really depends on the green situation and hazards, etc. I use the 54 a fair amount too, if I want to have some release. On every short game shot, I picture a flight plan, high, medium, low…then I pick my spot to land the ball. After that, it’s just a question of how much momentum do I need to give it to hit the shot I pictured. I will occasionally use, 9, P, GW but not enough to have confidence in my distance control. That usually requires something unique (big hill, slow greens, etc).
Nice job, Patrick! Looking forward to hearing about the impact your short game prowess is going to have on your scoring!!
