Good Evening, only just come back to golf after 10 years and played 3 games.
Always sliced terrible and chopped down on ball I think. I fixed this with very narrow stance, keeping arm straight (making sense now) and keeping weight even On feet.
Just started the Saguto way and shaved 4 shots off game last week.
went up range to practice my setup after starting the course.
I am struggling with flexibility (I think) but it feels like not enough space to swing when I have shoulder width stance.
from watching video back (there was 4 minutes of this) I seem very close to ball with arms tilting club upright.
should I be standing further from ball please? I think swing Could come a bit lower also at top of backswing.
if I lock my arms like in setup it feels like no space so assuming I’m too close or using too much arms as body should turn with arms then it wouldn’t be in the way.
any first impressions greatly appreciated. once I have solid foundation will use the V1 lesson to dial it in.
great to be here.
Hi.
This is copy+paste from another reciew and you got nearly the same issues.
Tension kills the swing. Stay comfortable !
Posture. Bit more over the ball, relax knees a little bit.
I) your take-away starts wrong II) arms not connected
III) no balance and rhythm for top to start downswing
IV) downswing starts wrong with arms first
I) whiggle hip short left to release tension. with this momentum now push the club from left foot, left knee and left body towards right - no pull right arm only push left
II) glue elbows together and keep them connected till 3/4 or full swing III+IV) rhythm normal swing is 3:1. 1+2ooo up, 3 down, 4 through. downswing starts at end of 2 with weight left foot including freeing left hip then body turn and connected arms follow.
I-IV) help you to keep balance for the whole swing. The only things you can do always 100% correct are posture and rhythm. In between u can analyse failures and easily correct them
Welcome to the school and to this great forum community, @colin!!
While I personally refrain from offering swing video analyses here as it conflicts with my V1 service, I'm confident you'll find that many of the "regulars" here have a solid knowledge of the swing and can offer very valuable insight from their respective experiences. If you do not receive any responses, I encourage you to look at some of the other posts in the Video Analysis Room section of the Forum, see who some of the regular analysts are, and tag them here in your post (use the "@" sign and then start typing their name and the system will then give you the ability to choose that member - just like I did in tagging you at the top of this message).
I'm very glad to learn of your early progress!
