Saguto Golfers,
At setup I recently have opened up the club face too much. I had the shaft inside the left thigh and moved the shaft forward opening the face. I have been producing fades. I just wanted to make awareness of this. When I first started stack and tilt, I would move the club face forward and create too much shaft lean. Just wanted to bring awareness to this, and be able to express to find a happy medium. I made some adjustment and was hitting straighter. Anyone else have this issue?
@harvilleg1 - Thank you for your helpful comment!
We find that "happy" clubface angle by setting the face square to the target line at the "zero point", which is in line with the lead shoulder from a face-on view. From there we move our hands back to the stock setup position - even with the inside of the lead thigh - and simply place the clubface behind the ball without any manipulations. If the ball position is behind the hands - as it typically is - then this will result in the face naturally opening a slight amount without any twisting or turning of the hands, thereby setting us up for the stock push-draw ball flight. If the ball position is ahead of the hands - for example, if we are using the Shot Shaping Grid to set up for a pull-fade, then the face would be closed to the target line by a slight amount, again - without any manipulations.
