Pitching, I did always use my old lob at 54. And will stick with that 45 yards and in. Chipping greenside depends on the length I need the ball to fly in the air and how much green to the hole to get it rolling quickly.
@Greg Gardner - My personal "stock" chipping club is the 52. However, I do deploy other lofts as the situation dictates. I suggest experimenting during your practice sessions to see what serves you best.
Of course, Greg, we could take it to the extreme and use every club in the bag depending on the situation as Paul Runyan prescribed with his carry/run chart. He could get up and down from anywhere. 😎
