Tom, et al, good morning to all...
Had a lesson yesterday; however, having trouble on the downswing with consistency.
Obviously not maintaining "something" to get me to the ball correctly and accurately.
- Am I not maintaining spine tilt?
- Am I not maintaining lag?
- Swinging too hard?
Going to rewatch lessons; then heading to the driving range this afternoon.
Cannot afford private lessons with Tom, and I live in FL.
Know I can eventually get there because when I do hit it well, I do it well - for a noob.
Thanks to all.
v/r,
Dave
Don't "overdrill" yourself in one session, Dave!! Pick one to concentrate on so you can alternate drill work with regular swings. Incremental improvements are what we're after.
I look forward to hearing about your time together with @burkholder.ronald!!
@David Osband - Is your local teacher aligned with the swing system you are learning here? I just want to make sure you're not getting conflicting instruction.
First of all, I am sure you will do well to meet with @burkholder.ronald as discussed in your other recent comment thread. Did you know that he shot five consecutive rounds in the 70's using just the 2.8 Drill swing?) Also, as Ronald mentioned, you might consider posting your swing videos in the Forum's Video Analysis Room. While I don't personally review these as it conflicts with my V1 service, you may be pleasantly surprised by the knowledge base and helpfulness of this great community!
As for the V1 Analysis, it is an extremely valuable service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site.
Beyond that - and in addition to 2.8 - there are so many great drills in the school. For example, Part II of Get Out and Go Play has several that will help with the downswing and impact:
- 90% Weight Forward/Arms Straight (2 parts)
- The Flying Wedge
- The Best Contact Drill Ever (3 parts)
