I watch myself on video and have the classic chicken wing. I have tried everything to keep that left arm straight but when I put a ball in front of me and take a full swing, there it is again. I’m so frustrated I don’t know what to try

The drill Tom posted is GREAT! Anyone can hit good shots to greens using this drill on the course. To add some info....I worked with a guy who chicken winged his left arm constantly. I didn't use Tom's drill, however, we looked at cause & effect, and the outcome was the same...he took the club outside target line on the backswing, then his right wrist "threw" the club at the ball, outside-in, on the downswing. The "throwing" motion by his right hand caused his left arm to collapse...aka chicken wing. Thus the drill with an exaggerated weight position on the left side makes perfect sense.
Thanks for the comments. Im steadily working on the 90% arms straight drill and making some progress with half swings where there isnt a comete follow but still have the chicken wing in a full swing. Im having trouble getting the transtion from the straight stiff feel to a full follow through
i struggled with the same problem and spend a ton of time with those drills, Tom suggested. It wasnt till i took a closer look at my grip and realized i had a strong grip. I rewatched Tom’s grip Vids and got the club more into my fingers and to a neutral grip, that i was able to start keeping my arms straight. the neutral grip feel…super weird feeling. Still working on it but making progress. Not sure if this will help but thought id share.
best of luck👍🏻
Hi Tom- merry Xmas! by doing this drill will you automatically stop chicken winging in your full swing?
@dsalmon55 - The 90% Weight Forward/Arms Straight Drill is the chicken wing slayer. It's not an easy drill but it is very effective, so be sure to spend sufficient time to properly learn, execute, and master it. You'll know you're doing it properly when impact is consistently crispy, divots are occurring past the ball, and ball flight is a repeatable little push-draw.
