Hi everyone. I've been playing for a few years, only consistently the last two. I'm using a 3rd hand set of Ping Karsten Irons that maybe are 30 years old, I'm not sure. I would like to get new irons and everything that I read says you should get fitted. The problem is I'm a little intimidated by the fitting process because I know that I will hit some bad shots during the fitting. Should I just suck it up and get fitted or buy off the rack? Thanks for your thoughts.

I am on my 2nd set of Pings, 1st was G25's now waiting on G425's to arrive.
Thinking back now in 48 years I been playing with short period which didn't play a lot but missed a few years. Maybe had 8 to 10 different sets over the years including the last 2. One set of (here's age teller they don't make these anymore) Square 2's I had the pro watch for swing speed to determine club flex many years ago.
But with todays fitting and the investment into your game, DO THE FITTING! Golf Galaxy and I am guessing most will charge but put price towards a purchase. Golf Galaxy charged $99 but put that towards purchase of my G425's.
Do it, I knew what I wanted, but you can swing multiple different sets. And different shafts and cluhead lies. And the tech involved is worth the feed back. We are not pro's but in my opinion even more reason to get fitted.
I suggest getting done at a place indoors for the tech feedback. I had friend in another state get "fitted" on a range where the place just watched him swing. not recommended.
I was there for an hour and was able to see differences and ball speed and launch angle among flight path and groupings.
DON"T BE INTIMIDATED! It's your PASSION!
Would you walk into a car dealer and just look at a car and buy it without a thorough investigation?
