Well, it's official, I have started over-speed training for the winter (super speed golf).
I found a used set of super speed swing sticks plus radar for a great price on eBay.
3 days per week for 6 weeks on level 1. My goal is to pick up 10-15 mph on my driver in this program. Truthfully, not even sure if it's going to be that difficult because my swing has always been more of an arm swing. Because I am a big guy, distance has always come pretty easy and I have never felt the need to add more speed.
This year, however, I went through the process of changing my clubs loft/lie and adjusting my driver to bring spin down. @Ryen helped me get a new shaft to go with the new cobra low spin head and the results have been great. To get spin where it needed to be I had to go with xtra stiff/heavy shafts. As a byproduct my swing speed dropped about 5-10mph. I still hit the same distance and my bad drives are much, much better.
Here we go, quest to add more distance is underway...should be a fun winter project.
Sounds like a great off-season project, @Russell Hogue, PhD!! I'm rather certain @Ian "Twiggy" Jones would concur based on his speed training results and phenomenal ensuing season.
Have fun with it!!
